July 4, 2017 (JoaniesToGo.com) – World Record Pizza- There was recently a new record set for the world’s longest pizza. On June 10, more than 10 organizations came together to create a world record pizza in Fontana, California. We’ve all had those late nights where we suddenly realized that we just polished off the whole pizza by ourselves. Even for those of us with the biggest appetites, this world record pizza would require several hundred of our closest friends to finish off.
This prodigious pizza measured a whopping 6333.3 feet in length. To put that in perspective, there are 5280 feet in a mile. So, this pizza runway is approximately 1.2 miles long.
Of course, to create a pizza over 1 mile long it takes a staggering amount of crust, sauce and cheese. This colossal, culinary creation was made with 17,700 pounds of dough, 5,000 pounds of sauce and 3,900 pounds of cheese, mozzarella in case you were wondering.
Baking a pizza this big is a logistical challenge for even the most experienced pie maker. For starters, it took over 40 hours of prep time to get the pizza ready for baking. This world record pizza was baked and shifts, but the total time in the oven was 14 hours. That’s 54 hours of labor to get the pizza ready to “serve” this enormous entrée was made by a team of over 100 people.
This world record pizza also did a world of good. All of the leftovers were donated to local charities. The true definition of a win-win.
Stop in today through July 4th and grab some pizza to go!
